Instant Pot Mini Corn Dogs

My kids love corn dogs, but the ones you find in the freezer section of the grocery store have so many preservatives and additives that I don’t even know if they get any nutritional value at all. These Instant Pot Mini Corn Dogs are homemade, so I know what’s actually in them. Plus, I think they taste so much better than the store bought ones.

Corn dogs are one of those foods that I vividly remember eating as a kid. It was a treat when mom bought the frozen corn dogs and we were able to warm them up in the microwave. Corn dog lunch day was always the best day!

We still have corn dog lunches with my kids, it just looks a bit different. Making corn dogs at home, especially with your Instant Pot, is SO easy! It’s also fun to have the kids help make them since it’s a super simple recipe. I hope my kids love corn dog days as much as I do!

What are Instant Pot Corn Dogs?

Instant pot corn dogs are just like the ones you would get in the store only better. You use jiffy corn bread mix to make the breading, and a hot dog. Each hot dog is cut up into 3 sections to give you 12 mini corn dogs! Instead of being on a stick, these corn dogs will be in small circles.

Instant Pot Mini Corn Dogs Ingredients

The ingredients for this recipe make 12 mini corn dogs. If you would like to make more, just double the recipe.

Jiffy corn bread mix – These little boxes of corn bread mix are perfect for these mini corn dogs. You can find the Jiffy corn bread mix in your baking aisle, normally on the top shelf. They are pretty inexpensive and a perfect way to have the kids help in make these mini corn dogs!

Milk – You can use your milk of choice here. Almond milk or any other non-dairy milk will work just as well as regular cows milk.

Hot dogs – You can use any type of hot dog here as well. You can even grab the ones with cheese in them and make cheesy corn dog bites!

What Will I Need to Make Corn Dogs in the Instant Pot?

You will also need a silicone egg mold to make these mini corn dogs. A silicone mold can be used for a variety of different dishes including making egg bites, meatloaf bites, muffins, and other things. If you don’t have one, you will not be able to make these Instant Pot mini corn dogs. You can find a silicone egg mold on Amazon.

How to Make Instant Pot Mini Corn Dogs

When you have kids, you know that making something they will eat and that is easy is of utmost importance. That’s why I love this super easy recipe! Follow the directions below for an easy lunch or dinner idea!

how to make corn dogs in the instant pot

Step 1 Make Cornbread

Follow the directions on box of cornbread by mixing together the Jiffy mix, egg, and milk.

Step 2 Cut Up Your Hot Dogs

Cut each hot dog into three sections evenly. This will give you 12 pieces.

Step 3 Fill Molds

Fill each silicone mold halfway with the cornbread mix. Once this is done, insert 1 of the hots (cut) into the mold in the center. Then, fill the rest of the mold with the batter. Make sure you do not overfill as you want each corn dog to cook evenly. Make sure that each mold is about ¾ full and covers the hot dog.

Place the silicone lid and snap into place. If you do not have a lid, you can cover with aluminum foil by laying a piece of foil on the counter andplacing the mold on it. Then from each side, grab the aluminum foil to create a cone shape. This way, if the egg mixture spills over during the transfer process to the Instant Pot, it is spilling into the aluminum instead of in the Instant Pot.

Step 4 Pressure Cook

Add 1 cup of water to the Instant Pot. Place the Instant Pot trivet in the Instant Pot. Put the silicone egg molds (filled) on the trivet. You can use more than one egg mold. The Instant Pot’s pressure will cook each mold evenly. Close the Instant Pot lid. Lock into place and push the valve to its sealing position.

Cook the corn dogs in the Instant Pot for 10 minutes by choosing the manual button.

Step 5 Natural Release

After the Instant Pot has finished cooking, allow it to naturally release its steam for 5minutes. After 5 minutes, open the valve manually. Once the steam has completed being released, open the Instant Pot.

Step 6 Serve

Use something to protect your hands, and grab the trivet using both sides to remove the Corn Dogs from the Instant Pot. Push each corndog out of the silicone mold. You can serve with ketchup, mustard, honey, hot sauce, or nothing at all! Serve and enjoy these delicious corn dogs!

How to Store Leftovers

If you want to store your corn dogs, I would not suggest putting them in the fridge. They tend to get soggy and yucky when put in the fridge. Instead, throw your mini corn dogs into a freezer bag and put them in the freezer. They will stay good for up to 2-months in the freezer.

I like to make several batches of these corn dogs, so that I can just pull them out of the freezer and heat them up for a quick lunch or dinner for my kiddos.
