How Do You Stuff Pork Chops?

You may have heard of stuffed peppers, stuffed chicken, or stuffed turkey, but stuffed pork chops may be a new one for you. To stuff your pork chops, you will want to make sure you first buy thicker cut pork chops. They should be at least 1” thick. Then, you will slice each chop down the center so you can stuff it.

Instant Pot Stuffed Pork Chops Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 ½ tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 box Stuffing (We used stove top stuffing)

  • 2 Lg Apples (Apple of choice; we used honey crisps)
  • 1 med Red onion (cut in slices)
  • 1 large Yam or Sweet Potato (sliced thick) (yams are usually less expensive and sweeter)

Pork chops – Boneless or bone- in chops work in this recipe. The cook time and everything stays the same no matter what kind you buy.

Spices – You will need salt and pepper to taste. I have found that adding a little more than what you normally would in the oven is best in the Instant Pot.

Olive oil – You will use olive oil to grease the inner pot while you sauté your pork chops. You can also use butter instead.

Chicken broth – You have to have liquid in your Instant Pot for it to come to pressure and cook your pork chops. You can use water instead, but I find broth adds more flavor and makes the meat more tender.

Can I Use Frozen Pork Chops?

For this recipe, I would advise against frozen pork chops. Because you have to slice them down the center and stuff them, it may be difficult to do this while frozen. Try to pull them out of the freezer the night before and thaw them in the refrigerator.

You can always sear your pot chops on the stove top as well. This is a good idea if you don’t want to scrap the seared bits off the bottom of your inner pot.

Step 2 Cook the Stuffing

Mix the stuffing with water and butter and cook on top of the stove or in microwave according to package directions. Add dried cranberries to cooked stuffing.

Step 3 Stuff your Chops

Stuff the pork chops with the cranberry stuffing mix.

How to Store Your Leftover Instant Pot Stuffed Pork Chops

If you have leftovers ( I never do), you can store them in your refrigerator for 3-4 days. Be sure to place your chops, stuffing, and sauce together in a sealed container in the fridge. When heating up, you may want to add a little water and butter to the mix so it isn’t dry.

Can I Freeze Instant Pot Stuffed Pork Chops

I have found that freezing meat that has already been cooked doesn’t work out too well. You can freeze it for several months, but it may not have the same texture and may be somewhat dry when you reheat it. Pork chops are best eaten after they are cooked.
